More than anything, women's self defense, is a phrase used by people who don't understand self protection or by someone trying to sell something to you. Self defense that is unarmed necessitates understanding how to use and defend against wrestling and striking, standing and on the ground. And it is the same for men as well as women. There's no such thing as punching for females and punching for males, or wrestling for females and wrestling for males. The same principles apply to all people. Women have to learn to defend against the type of attacks like men, and techniques that are effective for men are most effective for females.
The same goes for defense and weapon use. As it may be, there are no techniques that a female may be taught, from what ought to be taught to a man distinct. Self defense is self defense, if not hazardous, and to pretend otherwise is ineffective at best.
Men vs. Women -
But are not women smaller and weaker than men? Some are, and some aren't. But these strategies aren't different for women and men. They may be identical also for a man against a man, for instance, and for a woman against a man. They might be identical for a guy who's naturally better at struggling than striking, and for a female who's naturally better at struggling than striking.
Functional self defense training shouldn't be based on gender. The motivation for an attack can be different in several cases, based on gender. In order to subdue a female, there is a man going to have to utilize the same techniques as he'd to beat a guy up. Defending against a strike, someone trying to put you and get together with you, or a tackle, is the same no matter whether the motivation is to beat on you or rape you, or both. Psychological & Preventative Considerations -
If there is an area of self defense where a greater distinction between men and women can be made, it's in the psychological and preventative areas.
A guy might approach a female he intends how to attack differently than he might approach a guy, and he might play on different social conventions. A guy isn't likely to approach another guy and insist on help him carry his groceries, but he might do so with a female. And, a guy can be more prone to approach another guy in public, making bodily threats, than he'd to a female. Nevertheless, the exact same fundamental principles of prevention apply. Men as well as women must be capable to recognize and avoid hazardous people and places, how to recognize a situation also for what it's, maintain distance when necessary, know when how to be compliant and once how to be non compliant, when how to fight, and once not to fight.
